Welcome to SCHC

Welcome to SCHC – The Southern Counties Hockey Conference

Free, regular, social hockey for all abilities in the South West of England

There are many local clubs and teams who want competitive hockey without league pressures and excessive travelling.  Now in it’s thirteenth year,  the Southern Counties Hockey Conference or SCHC is a way of guaranteeing a full season of friendly hockey fixtures.

The SCHC operates with some basic principles;

  • Vets hockey, typically 35-70 yrs +
  • Teams play each other home & away
  • Acts as a good entry point for colts players (e.g. U17) and club’s non-league developmental sides
  • Social focus to all games
  • Takes the grind out of fixture organisation
  • Local clubs means less travelling
  • Team “leveling” on the day, if you’re short
  • No league promotions or relegations, no phoning in results, just regular, guaranteed hockey
  • Use of FixturesLive to make sharing information easier
  • Access to latest information via the website which is run by team volunteers
  • Teas provided by the home team after the game, alongside some exchanges of jugs of beer
  • Team of the Year Trophy presented each season to the best team (on the pitch and in the bar) as voted for by all participating teams
  • Access to a network of other Vets hockey teams in the Thames Valley, South East and Wessex regions
  • Cuts your club’s costs
